Welcome to another quick round-up of the movers and shakers at Waverley Road this past week and a guide to what’s coming up ahead!

Let’s start with news of a win away for the First XV at Leicester Forest last Saturday – 'The Blues' came away winners with a 7-28 scoreline that feels great for both players and supporters. Reports from the touchline are that it was a much more confident performance all round, with strong performances from the ever-forceful Chis Pye and the returning Freddie Styles helping keep a steady platform for a solid back’s performance.

Looking to this weekend they meet local friends and rivals Market Harborough RFC for a big clash that draws a crowd from both sides and is always worth a watch. We will be hosting two tables of guests plus VP’s from MH at the Pre-Match Lunch along with several player sponsors attending to support ‘The Blues’ – places are still available, but booking is essential: https://www.ketteringrugby.com/news

Our Second XV take a trip to Market Harborough against their matching opposition while the Colts will be home facing ON’s Colts in a friendly fixture. Currently, the 3rd XV await final details of the opposition but are scheduled to round out a full home pitch card.

The U16 squad are in league action away at Huntingdon on Sunday but both U13 and U14 sides provide Sunday morning matches at home with 11 am KO’s. Our Girl's sides will be away Sunday afternoon in tough games at Market Bosworth and Oakham.

Full details are always available on the website – good luck to all our teams again this week.

Away from the fixtures, it was great to have 12 new players for the first Woman’s Rugby training session in many years, return and have such a positive response. The session was enjoyed by all. A number of new and returning players have expressed interest in joining the session very soon. Feel free to drop Steve Love a message if you are tempted to give it a go – all levels and experience are welcome.

Walking Rugby had a bumper turnout despite the cooler nights and continues to grow. With news of an East Midlands side on the radar, there’s a chance to grab your colours in representative rugby maybe?! Sessions Mon 7-8:30 pm at the Club (free to members)

The Sunday Night Quiz - continues to provide great end-of-weekend entertainment in its usual spot. Please come down and have a go – there’s a chance of prizes even if you don’t reach mastermind level:

Details will be out this week for the ‘Morning with Santa’ – now featuring a disco! It hopes to serve up great fun for all the family, of all ages. Stand by for final details.

Away from the pitch now, and we ‘Turner’ our attention to the main sponsor T James Electrical LTD.

They have officially announced this week that former Club President Simon Turner- who has run the business for over 28 years, will step back and hand the torch to our first team Captain Josh Cox.

It goes without saying that Simon ‘George’ Turner has literally done everything within the company having started his apprenticeship there in 1980.

Since then, he has taken over the business, grown it into the premiership electrical contractor in the area and throughout this time shown unwavering support for KRFC and the local community.

The company, under his management has given countless opportunities to many former and current Kettering players – a massive thank you to George!!

With Josh stepping up we can be confident this special relationship will continue and are reminded once again; our sponsors are our friends and family with these bonds founded through a love of rugby and all that comes with it.

Kind regards,
The Clubhouse Team
