Several local sides including Oundle have been underwater this past weekend. Fortunately, Waverley Road remains in good condition thanks to Mr Bream’s great
efforts as always.
Another great pre-match lunch preceded the clash between our 1st XV and
Broadstreet in an important battle to get the league season back on track, but this
did not come to fruition.
With a back-and-forth game, Kettering were leading 20-17 and seemingly in the
ascendancy when the referee pulled up injured. With no suitable replacement
available and the game not having passed the 60-minute cut-off point the match was
abandoned.
Please see our new match report below.
With a rest week planned for this coming weekend, it remains to be confirmed
whether the match is to be replayed either this Friday or Saturday or will be held
over to be played on the next free weekend. We could yet be treated to an
additional game being added to the current upcoming club fixtures.
Sunday saw 3 Junior matches at home with the U16 girls rounding out a chilly
afternoon at home – a full round of results is on the website now. Thanks to all the
parents who helped with post-match food for all teams.
In addition to the on-field action, the clubhouse was busy hosting our members
as well as a group of residents for one of their regular gatherings. This was the
club's first venture into offering a Sunday Roast and it was very well received with many gratefully received compliments and a request to return in January. Watch this space for future events and your chance to join us for dinner!
Looking ahead we have the potential for a stacked card of fixtures throughout the
club this week and even further ahead we have the ‘Old Players Lunch’ and reunion
with some visiting guests from Texas joining us after first becoming firm friends
through rugby tours in the 80’s. This will be a busy lunch so please get your places
booked early if you wish to attend as it is historically a sell-out!
Finally, as well as our newsletter we have many changes coming to the website to
keep everyone informed and up to date. This first big change you will see has
already taken place as we are now ‘Ad Free’ making the site much clearer to read
and navigate. This will be getting a detailed make-over on the content, sponsor news
and fixtures which we know are so important to our supporters and members.
Keep an eye out for our (deep breath!...) 'Countdown To Christmas' which will provide
all the details of fixtures and events to close out the calendar year
